Hunger Games Movie News: More Hunger Games Movie Actors Cast

Last week there had been a lot of talk about John C. Reilly playing Haymitch in The Hunger Games, but as we reported those talks seem to have fallen apart. Who will take the important role?
E! reports that Woody Harrelson is being offered the role of Haymitch now:
Despite numerous reports saying the actor was the top contender for the meaty and crusty middle-aged Haymitch role, a source close to the film tells us exclusively that the part is not going to Reilly.
Good thing we like Lionsgate’s next idea for Haymitch even better! Our Hunger mole tells us the production’s currently smitten with Woody Harreslson, who we think could actually nail the role.
However, good luck getting any this stuff officially confirmed: we’re told until every role is cast and every deal is done, the actors in the film have been put on a gag order.
“They’re telling the actors not to say anything at all and just refer people with questions to their managers and publicists,” says our source. “None of the actors want to be the one to blow it so they’re staying tight-lipped.”
On April 29th we learned of Harrelson’s involvement with the film. At the time no one was speculating he’d play Haymitch since Reilly had apparently filled that role.

Wes Bentley will portray Seneca, the Head Gamemaker of the 74th Hunger Games.

Ender's Game Movie Finds a Home

The Ender’s Game movie has been shopped around to different studios recently, and it looks like it has finally found a home: Summit Entertainment. Summit, as many of you surely know, is the company that is bringing the world the Twilight movies.
There are some interesting theories as to why this company snagged the rights to this movie, and leading the pack is the fact that they are looking for something big to follow up the massive success the Twilight Saga has brought them.
The other theory is that they want something that will compete with the already-predicted success of The Hunger Games movie trilogy, which is currently being produced by Lionsgate.
Production is set to begin soon, and Gavin Hood (of X-Men: Wolverine fame, among others), will be directing.
This news brings with it mixed emotions for me. Yes, Summit has done quality films, but to acquire this movie just to off-set the success of others makes me a bit wary. However, Orson Scott Card has said from the beginning of this round of submissions for the film that he’s behind this version and believes they will do it justice, so that makes me feel a little better.
What do you think? Will Summit Entertainment give Ender’s Game the justice it deserves?

Beastly
In a contemporary retelling of the Beauty and the Beast, Kyle Kingsbury has the perfect life in NYC. He's rich, beautiful, and adored by everyone except his parents. He's also conceited, mean, and shallow, just like his father. So mean that a witch curses him by turning him into a beast, with only two years to find someone who will love him without his beauty. His father travels the globe to find a cure but fails, so he sets Kyle up with a blind tutor and a maid and hides him away. Although Kyle finds solace in gardening and the friendship of his captive staff, when he encounters a thief willing to trade his daughter for freedom, he jumps at the chance to convince a girl he is lovable before his time runs out.
My Review
When I first picked up this book, my first perception was that Kyle could be called nothing but a jerk. He picks on the "uglies", drinks, and he spends most of his time thinking of how nice it would be to make out with his girlfriend, Sloan. That emphasis was the part I did not like about this book. He seemed to spend the first half thinking of how hot girl's body's are. There is also a lot of cursing, but I think this is because the story takes place in the inner city in New York. This is the reason why I usually don't read teen romance novels. However, when Kyle is turned into a beast we see him slowly change from the beast he was inside to a man in the body of a beast. Kyle's father tries to help his formerly handsome son become beautiful again, but eventually he gives up and abandons Kyle. His girlfriend, Sloan, leaves him for the same reason. Linda, on the other hand, is the perfect role model. She loves Kyle for who he really is and not because he is beautiful. These elements point to the theme of the book: don't judge others based on beauty. One thing that I though was neat about this book was the fact that it draws a lot of parallels not only to Beauty and the Beast, but to other fairy tales as well. Throughout the story, we see Kyle chatting with his online support group which helps people deal with transformations. The screen names are Silent Maid (The Little Mermaid), Froggie (The Frog Prince), and Grizzly Guy (Snow White and Rose Red). Overall, I think that I liked it more as I got further into it. If you do read it though, you should probably wait until you are over fifteen.
